Help & Troubleshooting

Common questions about downloads, exports, and billing. Not here? Email [email protected].

Finding your download

Receipts download straight to your device. Nothing is emailed. Files are named receipt-name-date.png, for example convenience-store-receipt-2026-07-27.png.

  • iPhone and iPad: Files app → On My iPhone or iCloud Drive → Downloads. Safari also shows a download arrow near the address bar.
  • Android: notification shade, Chrome menu → Downloads, or the Files app under Downloads.
  • macOS: Downloads folder, and the Downloads stack in the Dock.
  • Windows: Downloads folder. Ctrl+J opens browser download history.

On iPhone, images do not go to your Photos app automatically. To get one there, open the file in Files, tap Share, then Save Image.

Download and export problems

Nothing happens when you tap download

This is almost always an in-app browser. Links opened inside Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Snapchat or an email app run in that app's built-in browser, and most of them block file downloads.

Open the in-app browser menu (three dots or a share icon), choose Open in Safari or Open in Chrome, then download again. Receipts are stored per browser, so you may need to rebuild yours once after switching.

Supported browsers

Chrome and Safari are what we test against, and Edge works the same way. Firefox works too, but it handles embedded fonts differently, so your receipt may fall back to a system monospace font in the downloaded file.

“Download failed”

In order:

  1. Try again. Many failures are one-off timing issues.
  2. Try PNG instead of PDF or JPEG.
  3. Remove your uploaded logo and retry. Large image files are the usual cause.
  4. Reload the page and export again.
  5. Switch to Chrome or Safari.

Still failing? Email [email protected] with your device and browser.

Other export issues

  • Bottom cut off: the preview was still updating. Wait for it to settle, then export.
  • Blurry: use the download button, not a screenshot. Exports render at 2x on free and 3x on Pro. PNG is sharper than JPEG.
  • Wrong fonts: your browser blocked font embedding, so the export fell back to system monospace. Use Chrome or Safari.

File formats

  • PNG: the default, and the right choice for almost everything. Sharpest output, accepted anywhere you upload or share an image.
  • PDF: for printing, or attaching to an expense report. The page is sized to the receipt, so there is no white margin.
  • JPEG: smallest file, slight quality loss. Use it when something only accepts .jpg or enforces an upload size limit.

Editing and saving

Saving

Your current receipt autosaves in the browser you are using, so you can close the tab and come back to it. It does not carry across devices or browsers, and it is lost if you clear site data or work in a private window. Pro saves receipts to your account, so you can reopen them anywhere.

Logos

PNG, JPG, SVG and WebP are all accepted. A transparent PNG looks best on the thermal and realistic paper styles. Keep files small: large uploads slow the builder and are the most common cause of a failed export.

Paper

  • 80mm: matches most store and restaurant receipts. The right default.
  • 58mm: narrow roll used by card terminals and portable printers.
  • Custom: set your own width.

Paper style (white, thermal, yellow, realistic) changes the background only, so switching keeps all of your content.

Printing on a receipt printer

Export a PDF and match the width to your roll, 58mm or 80mm. Print at 100 percent scale with fit to page and shrink to fit turned off, or the printer will resize the receipt and the width will not line up.

Mobile

The builder works on phones. Landscape or a desktop screen is easier for long item lists.

Watermark

Free downloads include a repeating diagonal watermark. It is part of the image itself, so it appears in every format. Pro removes it, exports at higher resolution, and saves receipts to your account.

Pro and billing

Paid, but still seeing the watermark

Go to Claim Pro and sign in with the email you used at checkout. That links the payment to your account.

If that does not work, or you paid with a different address, email [email protected] with the address you paid from and we will sort it out. Do not pay twice.

Managing or cancelling

Account → Plan & Billing → Manage billing opens the Stripe portal, where you can update your card, view invoices, or cancel. Cancelling is self-serve and stops future renewals.

Anything else

Refunds, billing questions, template requests and bug reports all go to [email protected].
